How do I choose the right oxygen equipment for me?
The goal is to have oxygen equipment that you can 和 will wear, so you can keep enjoying your usual activities.
- How often 和 for how long you leave your house
- What activities you do while you are out
- 你r size, strength 和 endurance versus the weight of the equipment
- Whether you breathe through your nose or your mouth
What type of equipment is available?
The three types of oxygen systems currently available are:
- Portable oxygen concentrators (POCs)
The compressed gas system consists of a stationary concentrator,
压缩气体系统 | Small, pre-filled tanks delivered to you on a weekly basis, depending on how much oxygen you are using, or tanks that fill overnight at home (aka a home-fill系统).
这些小型储罐必须与以脉冲方式输送氧气的氧气保存装置或调节器(OCD)一起使用, so that the oxygen supply lasts longer. |
Oxygen concentrator with 50-foot
液氧系统 | Small, refillable tank that you fill from the reservoir as needed | 50英尺高的氧气罐 油管 |
Portable oxygen concentrator (POC) | 一种小的电子装置,可以戴在背上或推着走, runs on regular electricity or a battery, 即使在车里也很容易充电, 而且不需要油箱或加注. The maximum 油管 length for proper delivery of oxygen is 7 feet. These units can be taken onto airplanes. | |
Ambulatory devices are defined as weighing less than 10 pounds, 可供日常使用, designed to be carried by the patient, 和 lasting four to six hours at a setting of 2 liters per minute. .
E tanks are the larger, older metal tanks that are wheeled around. They can be the right choice for some people 和 situations, but are generally not considered to be 非固定的 devices.
It causes the oxygen to be delivered only when you take a breath.
Several accessories come with your oxygen equipment. Below are examples of a few basic accessories.
The stationary equipment for home use comes with 50-foot 油管, so you can freely move about the house. The 非固定的 equipment comes with shorter 油管. 氧气面罩 can also be used for higher oxygen needs. The Oxymask is a comfortable version.
Higher oxygen settings can be drying to the lining of the nose.
Ambulatory oxygen tanks can be rolled in small carts, carried in backpacks 和 sometimes even worn as a waist pack. Portable oxygen concentrators are rolled in their own cases, worn in a backback on the back or slung over the shoulder.
- Oxygen-conserving devices may not deliver enough oxygen. Continuous flows are better for flow rates above 4 liters/minute.
- For irritated nasal passages due to high flow oxygen, try RoEzIt.
- Due to the increase in back pressure 和 resistance to flow, 流量大于6升/分钟时,不建议使用一次性加湿器瓶.
Where do I get my oxygen 和 equipment?
Some insurance policies dictate which oxygen company you must use.
Who will pay for my oxygen 和 equipment?
一般, if your O2 saturation falls below 89 percent, or your paO2 falls below 60 mm Hg — whether at rest, 在活动或睡眠时-那么你就有资格补充氧气.
- The nasal cannula should be changed every week.
- 如果您正在使用加湿器, 每天至少清空一次, wash the bottle with soap 和 warm water, making sure all the soap is rinsed out, 和 then refill the bottle with distilled water.
